STIHL Sends Fourteen Students to National Association of State Park Directors Leadership School

(WHEELING, W.Va.) – The Oglebay National Training Center in West Virginia recently hosted 77 students as part of its annual National Association of State Park Directors (NASPD) Leadership School. The two-year training program, which educates future leaders of state parks through a combination of distance and on-site education, is funded in part by gold-level sponsor, STIHL Inc.

By providing travel funds to offset expenses of attending on-site leadership school events, STIHL was able to help send 14 students to the Leadership School. STIHL has been a sponsor of NASPD since 2009 and also sponsors the NASPD annual conference.

“STIHL recognizes the importance and the need for educational support, and the National Association of State Park Directors does a great job of providing this for their leaders,” said Roger Phelps, promotional communications manager for STIHL Inc. “It is crucial that we assist where we can to make it possible for participants to have this opportunity and earn further education and training to better serve their state park.”

“STIHL’s involvement in the Leadership School is more than a sponsorship, rather a commitment and relationship with leaders of America’s State Parks that reflect both organizations’ commitment to the stewardship of America’s natural and cultural resources and service to our visitors and customers,” said Phil Gaines, chair of the board of Regents State Park Leadership School. “It seems appropriate that STIHL be involved in our Leadership School as STIHL continues to lead through invention and innovation. America’s State Parks are proud of this partnership and appreciate STIHL’s continued commitment to America’s State Parks.”
